Our electrical thermography inspection service typically covers all equipment above 100 Volts, including switchboards, panelboards, disconnects, control panels etc. We detect and document anomalies with the aid of infrared cameras, as well as by visual and ultrasound inspection. Detailed reports with thermographs and repair suggestions are provided within two weeks. Critical issues are promptly communicated to management to prevent disruptions.
Any electrical equipment operating above 100 Volts is considered for inspection. Equipment typically includes switchboards, panelboards, disconnects, transformers, control cabinets, motor control centers (MCCs), starters, contactors, and utility feeds. We ensure that every critical aspect of your electrical system is noticed. During our inspection, we recommend turning on any equipment that can be run without disrupting operations, allowing us to gather the most accurate and comprehensive data possible. Our thorough approach ensures that every component, whether actively running or not, is evaluated for potential issues, thereby enhancing the safety and efficiency of your electrical systems.
IR, visual, and ultrasound tools are used to perform all inspections. Infrared cameras detect temperature differences in electrical components and provide an onscreen image, along with reasonably accurate temperature measurements. Upon detection of any heat-related anomalies, we capture IR and visual snapshots along with all necessary data for the report. We also visually inspect for additional anomalies, even considering equipment not running. If necessary, a complementary ultrasound test is provided for equipment operating above 600V or otherwise inaccessible.
A location-based equipment inventory, including operational statuses (and other notes) is generated throughout the inspection. We basically keep track of what equipment you have, where it’s located, and its current status (e.g., running, not running, not in service). We recommend that you gather an idea of locations before our arrival — in other words, we’ll try to remember your air compressor room / emergency electrical room / boiler room (etc.). Still, we hope you remember too.
Should any critical issues be discovered on-site, rest assured that management will be notified immediately, daily, or before the final exit. We understand the importance of timely information, especially when it comes to potential faults that could disrupt an important process.
Upon completion onsite, an electronic report, meticulously compiled and verified for accuracy, becomes available within two weeks. We are committed to clear documentation and transparency, ensuring no erroneous descriptions, and no unnecessary ‘fluff’!
We have extensive experience using IR cameras for electrical inspections as well as dedicated training in adherence to NFPA 70E standards. We inspect all types of commercial and industrial facilities, with the ability to complete the majority of locations in only one day.
